L8 is intended for the tanning of mammalian hides that have undergone a pre-treatment with another tanning agent, for example, dried (salted), preserved in alum and salt or in alcohol/bioethanol. After this final tanning, the skin can be prepared. So for example as a mount but also as decorative skin.
Instructions:
Dry the dried or salted skin in water (L3) and ensure that the salt is thoroughly removed
Then carefully centrifuge the skin
Apply L8 on the flesh side of the skin with a brush
Fold the skin together and allow the L8 to retract for 24 hours. Then centrifugate again
Now the flesh side of the skin has to be cut thin
Then treat again with L8 and repeat several times according to the thickness of the skin
Now grease the skin with L2 and let the L2 pull into the skin for 2 to 4 hours
Then rub again with L2
Let the skin dry on wooden slats with the skin side facing up
Dampen with clean beech sawdust (clean) and then beat and air
Drench with dry (medium or coarse) beech sawdust for approx. 45 minutes. Repeat several times with heavy skins
