Eye catalogue of the European birds (Peter Mildner a.o.)
With the eye catalogue, the author and taxidermist Peter Mildner presents a complete overview with information on the sizes, shapes and colours of the eyes of the birds of Europe.
Peter Mildner, who has been working as a zoological taxidermist since 1978, has also been concerned with the eyes of animals since the beginning and early on started a collection with original eyes of many mammal and bird species, which is still being expanded today.
The catalogue gives an introduction to the common types of artificial eyes and information on how to measure them.
The eyes are divided according to taxonomic nomenclature into orders, families, genera and species. For each bird species the size is given and the eye is illustrated in colour. For many bird species there is also an additional colour picture showing details such as eyelid, positioning and orientation of the eye.
At the end there is an index/list of species in German, English, and the scientific name in alphabetical order.
This book is enormously valuable for every taxidermist, because no book on the subject of bird eyes has ever been on the market in such detail.
